My Story
Why YK Tutoring & Music Academy?
YK stands for Yellowknife, Capital of Northwest Territories, where my journey as a tutor began and the vision for YK Tutoring & Music Academy was born.

Several years ago, I worked with a Grade 1 student who had experienced a stroke. The family had been told the child would never learn to read. Instead of focusing on limitations, we built strong reading foundations one step at a time. Today, that student is a confident reader. That experience reinforced my belief that every child can succeed with personalized instruction, patience, and encouragement.

Since then, I have helped many students, including learners with dyslexia, build confidence and achieve meaningful academic growth. Watching students overcome challenges has inspired me to create a learning environment where every lesson is tailored to each child's unique strengths and needs.

At YK Tutoring & Music Academy, we believe every student has potential. Our mission is to provide personalized, evidence-based instruction that builds confidence, strengthens skills, and helps students reach their full potential one step at a time.
